Here are five easy ways to bring your individualism into your wedding experience.
1. A Ceremony That You Resonate With
A ceremony that you feel like you can be your true self at is essential to making your wedding feel like it’s yours. This is the moment of your wedding day that you’ll be speaking from your heart and making such a beautiful commitment to your partner. Feeling comfortable, safe, and like you can just be your true self is SO important! If you love public speaking and having eyes on you then having all of your wedding guests attend your ceremony is probably your vibe. But, if you are nervous speaking in front of large groups of people there are other ways to go about your ceremony. You can do an intimate ceremony with a few of your closest loved ones or choose to say your vows privately beforehand and have a ceremony containing the legal portion of getting married.
2. Personalized Playlist
You don’t have to choose songs just because they’re known for being “wedding” songs. Create a list of songs that you truly love and that make you feel something when listening to them. Imagine yourself 20 years from now slow dancing in the kitchen to your first dance song, or pulling out your wedding album to reminisce while you’re playing your wedding playlist in the background, or showing your children all of the songs the two of you absolutely loved and had to make apart of your wedding day. Think about it, you might even create a core memory for some of your guests, so that when they do hear your songs years after, your wedding is what comes to mind.
3. Don’t use Traditions That Aren’t For You
Forget about the traditions that aren’t for you completely or swap them for something unique to your relationship! Not interested in a grand entrance and you’d rather spend quality time with your guests? Join them for cocktail hour and go together to the reception space! Don’t want to have a first dance and feel like all eyes are on you? Have your DJ announce all guests to the dance floor and do a “first dance” with all your guests to your favorite song! There is always a way to make something your own or remove it entirely.

Whether this be to read a chapter of your favorite book, take a morning walk on your favorite trail, go to grab coffee from your favorite place together, etc. Carry this energy throughout the day and add experiences into your day at any point, there are no rules!
